First fieldwork is in the books!

The first big field campaign of the CIELO project is in the books! The four team members Sophie, Inma, Hans and Laura were on La Gomera in August and September to collect soil, rock and river samples. And this with great success: more than 45 kg of samples were taken to Belgium and are currently processed for the coming lab analyses. We further installed seven dust and rainwater collectors in the North and South of the island. Now we need to keep our fingers crossed that they will collect sufficient dust and survive the extreme winds on La Gomera. In the gallery you can get some impressions from our field work, the island and our study sites. In the coming weeks and month we will update this blog with news and information about the project, the ongoing analyses and further fieldwork. Stay tuned!
